Abra Now Lets Users Buy Bitcoin with Visa and MasterCard Worldwide

Abra, a crypto exchange platform, has just added new options for buying Bitcoin via its app or website. Users can now easily purchase Bitcoin with either a Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card globally.

Before the new payment options, Abra users could use AMEX or by linking a bank account and making an ACH deposit or wire transfer. It took about 1-3 business days for ACH transfers to clear and 5-8 days for wire transfers. Compare that tot he Visa and MasterCard transactions which increases speed and spending limit.

Abra customers can now buy up to $20K worth of Bitcoin at once, which up over 10,000% from the previous $2K limit with an ACH bank-linked wire account. It also allows more customers to join the program who use these two cards but don’t want to give bank account details or don’t have American Express. Exposure and accessibility are both significant factors in the new payment options.

CEO of Abra told Bill Barhydt Bitcoin Magazine in an interview:

“With this launch, we can now offer a simple way for customers globally to use Abra to buy their first Bitcoin using any Visa or Mastercard, and then start investing in any of the other 24 cryptocurrencies we support today.”

They  have the potential to reach a global audience, which millions of credit card holders around the world. Abra already serves users from over 70 countries. They also allow users without bank accounts to buy altcoins using Bitcoin and Litecoin.

Recently, they partnered with a fintech company called Simplex to power the payment systems. Simplex specializes in fraud prevention via AI and complex payment setups which are designed to ensure safe transactions for payments.

Abra is a wallet and doesn’t directly store funds. It uses blockchain tech to let users hold their own keys and gives users the power to invest in crypto and send/receive Bitcoin, Litecoin, and over 50 other fiats. Abra currently trades the following crypto:
