Bitcoin (BTC) just got a ton of exposure from US rapper Royce Da 5’9′ in a new track featured on Eminem’s new album Kamikaze, as reported by Forbes.
Eminem and Royce Da 5’9′ have done collaborative work before multiple times throughout their careers- having recorded a combined 66 tracks that have reached Billboard’s Hot 100 records. Eminem announces his tenth album Kamikaze in a tweet yesterday, the 31st without needing much promotion. Due to his established fan base, it went viral instantly without much-preceding promotion.
Forbes says in the track titled “Not Alike” there’s a single lyric mentioning Bitcoin by Royce Da 5’9′ on the ninth track:
“Remember everybody used to bite Nickel, now everybody doing bitcoin.”
Forbes says it’s an important sign of BTC presence in mainstream culture and the realization that crypto has a range of uses now and is an everyday currency:
“The mention on Eminem’s album is significant however as it suggests not a get rich quick scheme nor a way to sell illicit goods online, but rather something that “everybody [is] doing” — that it’s as common as knowing you bite the metal coin to test its quality.”
This isn’t the first time crypto has been in the world of music. Earlier this year in 2018, Akon, another rapper, launched his own crypto intended for use in his own city called “Acoin.” He’s a pioneering rapper with 12 Billboard Top Ten Hits.
Curtis Jackson, AKA 50 Cent, was also reported owning millions of dollars in BTC after becoming the first rapper to accept it as payment for this album Animal Ambition.
Young Dirty Bastard, a hip-hop artist, announced the launch of his own cryptocurrency in an interview with Yahoo Finance.
BTC is truly becoming a mainstream phenomenon with the integration into modern works.
