Coinbase continues to add more crypto tokens to its payment platform as it expands its plans for mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency. Their new Coinbase Commerce program has now created a gateway for online retailers to accept crypto payments, which covers major e-commerce management systems, including Shopify, PrestaShop, OpenCart, and Magento. WooCommerce is also included, which is one of the most popular cart solutions on the planet.
This means about 2.6M online shops can now easily accept BTC, ETH, LTC, and BCH as payment options, as reported by Kevin Rooke for doing the math.
Coinbase has a list of incentive for why these shops owned by both small and large business all around, including a “quick and easy setup” and “full ownership” of the crypto. It’s also “secure and trusted” with security being its number one priority and it’s “free to use” giving companies the ability to accept crypto payments for free with no paywall. It even allows multi-currency with no limits, a robust API, webhooks, customized payment buttons, and hosted checkout pages.
Coinbase is easily becoming the world’s pioneer in mainstream adoption.
“Our mission at Coinbase is to create an open financial system, so we’ve designed this solution to serve merchants worldwide. Unlike previous merchant products we’ve offered, Coinbase Commerce is not a hosted service, so merchants have full control of their own digital currency.”
