JD.com, an ecommerce giant in China, has established a new division called the Smart City Research Institute at its HQ in Nanjing.
JD.com is a Chinese ecommerce company that courses on logistics, e commerce, and finance. They want to help the development of smart city construction with big data, blockchain, and AI. The report reveals that the company’s priorities are:
“Advanced Intelligent solutions in the areas of urban environment, transportation, planning, energy consumption, commerce, security, healthcare, credit cities and e-government.”
They’ve utilized blockchain tech in various aspects such as logistics, supply chain, and securities. They also revealed a new Blockchain as a Service platform called JD Blockchain Open Platform will enable businesses to build and host blockchain solutions without having to built it from scratch
